(Rap-Up) – Nick Cannon has reconciled with ViacomCBS.

The media conglomerate has reestablished its relationship with Cannon after he was fired for making anti-Semitic statements last summer. According to Variety, the move comes after Cannon made amends by apologizing for his comments and partnering with Jewish leaders.

“Nick has not only apologized and taken responsibility for his comments, but he has also worked to educate himself and others through engagement with Jewish leaders and on his platforms,” said an MTV Entertainment Group spokesperson. “Those efforts are of the utmost importance and that’s why we have invited him to rejoin our team.”

Back in July, ViacomCBS severed ties with Cannon for anti-Semitic comments made on his “Cannon’s Class” podcast where he discussed conspiracy theories about Jewish people and praised Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan for hate speech.

Cannon later apologized to the Jewish community and insisted that ViacomCBS turn over ownership of “Wild ‘N Out” to him. “I demand full ownership of my billion dollar ‘Wild ‘N Out’ brand that I created, and they will continue to misuse and destroy without my leadership!” wrote Cannon, who threatened to sue ViacomCBS for $1.5 billion.

In recent months, the 40-year-old comedian has received praise from Jewish leaders for his efforts to combat anti-Semitism. He partnered with Jewish community organizations including the Anti-Defamation League and co-authored an op-ed in a Jewish newspaper, urging Black and Jewish leaders to work together. He also toured the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Museum of Tolerance and pledged a donation to the organization.

Cannon is currently quarantining after testing positive for COVID-19. He is taking a hiatus from hosting new episodes of “The Masked Singer,” but is expected to return later in the season.

Fox is also moving forward with its stalled plan to launch a daytime talk show hosted by Cannon. The show was originally set to premiere last September, but will now debut in the fall.
