Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Make Plea Amid California Wildfires

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are sharing support for their community.
Amid the wildfires burning across the greater Los Angeles area that has left five people dead and thousands displaced, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex showed their support along with a list of resources.
“In the last few days, wildfires in Southern California have raged through neighborhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, medical care centers, and so much more—affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life,” Harry and Meghan said in the statement posted on their website Jan. 9 read. “A state of emergency has been issued.”
Along with the message, the couple offered links to helpful resources including chef José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen for residents and first responders in need of meals, Baby2Baby, for items for newborns and toddlers, the Animal Wellness Foundation for residents who have animals or come across displaced animals, and the American Red Cross for donations.
Further encouraging a sense of community Harry and Meghan—who are parents of Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3—stressed the importance of residents who can helping out by opening their homes.
“If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do,” the message read. “And be sure to check in with any disabled or elderly neighbors to see if they need help evacuating.”
