Mariah Carey Named MusiCares 2026 Person of the Year

(Variety) – Mariah Carey is set to be honored as MusiCares 2026 Person of the Year, and will be celebrated at the annual gala taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Jan. 30, 2026, just two days before the Grammy Awards.
Carey, who recently released her 16th studio album “Here For It All,” was chosen for her decades of contributions to music, as well as her philanthropic endeavors including providing relief to those affected by Hurricane Katrina and the Covid pandemic. She also founded Camp Mariah to help underserved youth in partnership with Fresh Air Fund, championing the advancement of health and education.
“We are honored to recognize Mariah Carey as this year’s MusiCares Person of the Year, a true creative force and once-in-a-generation talent,” said Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy and MusiCares. “Her artistry and her voice have helped shape the sound of our times. We look forward to celebrating her remarkable career on this very special night.”
