(People) – Chappell Roan is opening about being labeled a “villain.”
In a new episode of the Outlaws with TS Madison podcast released on Tuesday, May 20, the “Pink Pony Club” hitmaker claimed she’s had multiple “villain” eras recently.
“I think that I’ve had like three [villain eras] in the past nine months probably just because I was the new girl in the pop game, where I was like, ‘I don’t give a f— what you say to these girls who have been doing this since they were 10 and have been told this is okay, how you’re treated,'” Roan, 27, began.
She added that because she didn’t get famous until she turned 26, she had a lot of time to experience “what it’s like to be an adult and how to be respected in a job.”
“I’ve been treated better at my donut shop job than I have on a f—— carpet,” said Roan. “People on the news treat me worse than how customers did.”
The “Good Luck, Babe!” singer added that it doesn’t mean she’s “a villain or ungrateful” if she asks someone not to be rude to her. “It’s like, why is this customary?” she said.
Roan then reflected on the mistreatment of Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan.
“People were so evil to them,” she said, with the caveat that they’re still experiencing that “behavior” despite belated apologies.
